Greetings blog readers, my entry for today is marking the end of an era. For most of you that know us personally you know how involved Denise and I are at out church (Cross Lane Community Church -- link:www.clcchurch.com). This morning we were getting ready for our 9AM service and Parlee, the church secretary, came over and talked to Greg (sound guy) and Brett (preacher). Greg mentioned we were getting low on audio tapes for recording the sermons.

Let's pause here for a few seconds and set up a little bit of the history. For as long as I have known we have ALWAYS recorded our sermon on TAPEs. In the past 4+ years we have also recorded each sermon digitally and burnt CDs and made them available for download online. Forever I have tried to stop recording on tapes as I don't know how many people actually use them anymore.

Well, back to current time, Parlee said it is probably time for us to stop as we haven't made copies on TAPE in such a long time.

So, thus, an end of an era ... we are probably going to have a ceremony next week and call the Smithsonian and donate our tape deck to them as I think this thing has been around since prehistoric times.

Can you believe it? We picked up the van on Thursday and it had roughly 28 miles on it. This morning when I pulled into Chapelwood it had 360 miles on it! We’ve been driving it just a bit! I think I am getting used to it now. I’ve always driven the red beast and this van is considerably larger. I am adjusting quite well… :)

Over the weekend our church held our annual “Cross Lane Cruise-In” Car Show. It was rained out the previous weekend, but we actually had a great turn-out for a rain date. I think the final count was 87 cars. (Chris will correct me if I am wrong-won’t you darling?) Each car was $10 to enter which went to the Lighthouse Mission. It was also nice because my parents came out and Chris’ parents drove over from Indy to see the car show as well.

It was a lot of fun…Chris and I even hopped up on the roof of the church to take some pictures of all the cars. Our mom’s saw us from across the parking lot and I am sure we about gave both of them a heart-attack! It was easy getting up there – climbing down was a different story. (THANK YOU KYLE!) I am sure it was a sight to see!
