SO I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day Weekend! (Don't you just love saying "Dario Franchitti"?) We had an uneventful and relaxing weekend. Given the title of this post you can see that Gavin has yet to make his way here. We are anxiously awaiting his arrival! I keep rearranging things in his room and folding his clothes. Everything is so neat and organized...but we all know it won't stay that way for long!

Most of you know that I had a doctor appointment on Tuesday. I am dilated to 3 cm now! I know it's not much, but it's still more than I was 1 week earlier! The doctor was concerned that he was getting large - too large for me to deliver, considering my fundal measurement read that I was 41 WEEKS! (I'm only 36 weeks and 5 days!)

So the doctor scheduled the ultrasound yesterday. After the ultrasound tech completed the scan it read that he weighed around 7 pounds 5 ounces! She also said it could be off by as much as a pound - EITHER WAY. If he gets to be 10 pounds she will offer me a C-Section, but we aren't going to talk about that at this point!

I haven't seen the doctor since the ultrasound - and I won't until Tuesday of next week. We'll let you know how that goes - if I make it until then! :o)

No...the reason that there hasn't been any posts lately is NOT because we've been busy with a new baby. He hasn't made his way here yet - I've just been a little busy lately. How am I busy while on bedrest? Good question...

Time has really gone by a lot faster than I thought it would while at home. Here are a few things I've found to keep busy:

I have been working on Gavin's Birth Announcements - they are hand made, so I have to start now since there won't be any time to work on them after he is here! I also had a baby shower a few weeks ago, I've been folding a bunch of new little outfits just waiting to be soiled with baby 'stuff.' I've been reading a lot of books and magazines, watching Ellen (LOVE that show!) sunbathing with Marti - OH YEAH and going to the doctor.

I made a doctor appointment on Monday because I was experiencing a lot of discomfort. She hooked me up to the monitor and my contractions were coming at 4 and 5 minutes apart. They still weren't really strong enough to signal that labor was on it's way - but they are definitely getting more intense! Dr. Huffman told me I could either go to the hospital and be monitored there, or go home and monitor/time the contractions myself. We chose the latter - which is a good thing because they subsided quite a bit after going home. No need to rack up another huge bill with a night at the hospital! I want to make sure I am READY before we do that again!

Before we left the doctor we discovered that I have already dilated 2 cm! I realize that some women can walk around for weeks dilated at 2 cm - BUT...given my contractions we are hoping that isn't the case :) My next appointment is scheduled for next Tuesday...so we'll see if we make any more progress by then! We'll keep you posted. In the meantime - enjoy the long weekend - and stay safe!!!!!

So yes it has been a while since Chris or I have posted anything regarding the pregnancy. Just so you know...everything is going just fine! I don't even have to go see Dr. Huffman next week...We were able to schedule the next appointment 2 weeks out rather than just one. She is still keeping me home from work, so it looks like I'll be out for the rest of the school year. I don't have to go back until the first week of August, so I'll have plenty of time to recover after Gavin gets here!

Most of you know that I am measuring just a little larger than average. Today I am 33 weeks and 1 day along. (48 days to go!) As I get closer to term it gets a little more difficult to move around. I can't stand up or walk, etc. as quickly as I used to. Here's a funny little quote I found that I thought you might enjoy :)

Pregnancy survival skill: How to get out of a soft chair:
"Put your feet flat on the floor and bend from the hips. Push on the armrests with your hands! Use your stomach muscles. If upward motion is still elusive, pick up your magazine and yell for more mint-chip ice cream. (Standing up is totally overrated anyway.)"

Yesterday Chris and I went to the batting cages. We had planned on getting a little practice in before practice with the team later in the day. Chris and I started off in the slow pitching area. Chris put some more tokens in the slow and it started pitching out the medium speed. You are supposed to get 5 pitches for 1 token. After we put in about 8 tokens, the machine just started running on it's own!

THEN, I went to swing at one of the pitches and ... WHAM!!! The ball smashed my finger right against the bat! It immediately swelled and bruised - and I was sure it was broken! Before we left we had to fill out an incident report. It seemed like it took forever, then we were finally off to the Emergency Room. :(

We got the ER around 1:30 and it was PACKED! First they took my blood pressure and it was 108/67! I also got to stick my finger in one of those clip - thing - a - ma - jiggers to take my pulse. After that we waited some more and the nurse finally ordered an X-Ray. We waited some more, and we waited some more, and we waited some more, and then FINALLY they called us back to meet the doctor. We waited some more before the doctor read the X-ray to discover that my finger was NOT broken. He still put a splint on my finger and told me NO SPORTS until the swelling and pain was gone. Which means - NO BASEBALL practice or games!

A little bit of good news though...after waiting for so long without any lunch, we left the hospital around 5:00 and stopped at White Castle for a Crave Case! A nice way to end such a long day!

So yesterday we had what I consider "Girl Day." Normally "girl day" consists of us getting together to either scrap, or go scrap shopping - and also going out for lunch. Well, given my current state of 'bedrest' I am of course unable to go shopping and such.

My mom and sister were kind enough to bring 'girl day' to me at home yesterday afternoon! Mom fixed some tasty grilled ham and cheese sandwiches and my sister brought over a big vat of cottage cheese and some pineapple. (Great lunch, girls!)

I sent my sister after some pants at the FB while my mom helped me out with some projects around the house. Even though we weren't able to go out and shop it was still nice to have some company over while Chris and Nolan went out to the batting cages for some baseball fun.............

I'll let Nolan blog about that -

Not a whole lot has happened since my last post. As long as I stay in bed my contractions seem to be pretty quiet! Tomorrow Chris and I have our final childbirth class to attend. I have to get permission from my doctor to see if we can go. It will be nice to get out of the house for a short time again - even if it is another trip to the hospital. The class is right inside the childbirth center. They are getting to know us pretty well over there!

Hopefully it will be quite a few more weeks before we are there overnight again! And we'll be bringing home that little bundle of joy! :)

It feels so good to be home...hopefully we will not have to go back to the hospital for a long time! I am currently on bedrest - at least for the rest of this week. I see Dr. Huffman on Friday to be evaluated again and we'll find out if I should stay on bedrest for the duration of my pregnancy. It looks like I'll be seeing her weekly from now on to be evauluated. The contractions have subsided quite a bit with me staying in bed. As soon as I get up to take a shower, get a drink or some food - they start to come back...so I've really got to take it easy. Marti has really enjoyed lounging with me over the last 24 hours!

I had my 4th and final steroid injection this morning! That's good news...probably the most painful needle I've ever felt! I feel like after 4 of those - giving birth will be a breeze!

So as much time that I am going to be spending in bed - I'll probably have plenty of time to update you here on the blog as to what is going on. Stay tuned for more updates!
