This weekend has been a very "car-centric" weekend for us. It started out Friday evening with a trip to the Credit Union to do something that I have wanted to do for a LONG time ... that is PAYING OFF MY CAR!! Yep, you heard it right ... my car is now "my car". Now it will take a couple of weeks for them to get the title sent out to me but it is in the works! It was an awesome feeling to pull up to the teller and drop that payoff check in the tube and know this was the last car payment on this car I will have to make!

After that we went over to my mom and dad's house for some dinner and borrowed my dad's tools so we could some Pinewood Derby Car Surgery. We had an incident earlier in the week where when we were trying to fix a problem some superglued wheels on Nolan's first car that required a complete and total overhaul. After a couple of hours of shaping, sanding, painting and wheel installation we had a new lean mean racing machine ready for competition!

While at my parents we enjoyed some homemade Lasagna (yep, you heard it right ... homemade!) and enjoyed the movie Benchwarmers.

Bright and early Saturday morning we got up and ventured our way to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Production Studios where the Pack 312 Pinewood Derby was taking place. We were one of the first cars (first 10) to pass inspection and be authorized for racing. We had an enjoyable time ... unfortunately we didn't have a Top 10 finish but you know what ... we had a blast doing it! We're already talking about what we want to do next year on the car! We've even talked about possibly building our own race track for home ... I think Gavin will really enjoy it?!!!

We rounded out the evening with some car-inspred dinner ... Nolan used toothpicks and made some Hot Dog Mobiles ... we were nearly halfway through our Dinner when we realized that Nolan hadn't even had a bite! We hurried him along and his cars made a few more transformations before they were finally finished.

We're looking forward to the Nascar Race this afternoon as we might check it out for a little while in-between some shopping for building materials and baby stuff!

Check out some pictures from yesterday:

Dan and Amanda’s wedding was so beautiful!! The colors were really pretty – great for fall! I am so excited for the 2 of them. They have been together for so long I am so happy they finally decided to ‘tie the knot.’ It was a very busy weekend and I am glad it is all over with. Chris was very busy as well – he took the wedding pictures and I am sure he did a fabulous job ;) Traci ended up helping him as well (Thanks Traci!)

The reception was a good time. I danced with Dan during the dollar dance, Nolan and I did the Chicken dance and the locomotion, Chris and I were able to have a nice dance, and Nolan even did his ‘worm’ across the floor as we were leaving. Good times, but once again I am glad it is all over with. I’m sure Amanda and Dan feel the same way right about now!

Some other news, Chris took Nolan to his first Cub Scout Den meeting yesterday. It was at Washington Park and he had the best time! We’ve always been so busy for Nolan to join cub scouts, but this year we were finally able to sign him up. He is so excited about being a cub scout. Here in a few weeks his den will be outside of Lowe’s selling popcorn, so you MUST come out and see all of the boys! (And buy some popcorn!) A portion of the profit goes towards camp next year. So come out and support the boy scouts!!
