So is everyone watching American Idol this year? We have been waiting for Season 6 ever since Taylor was declared American Idol of Season 5. We are such fools!

However...I just have to ask what is up with the contestants this year? Notice that each year the judges say at the beginning of the show, something to the effect of, "This is our best group we've had so far!" Yeah...maybe I missed it - but this group just isn't as entertaining as previous seasons.

I think my favorites so far are Chris Sligh, Phil Stacey and Blake Beatbox. (What's his last name??)

I'm not going to stop watching the show - I just hope they start doing something a little different - and MORE entertaining! Don't these people realize by now that ballads are not a good choice for the first show? Yikes...

Don't get me wrong - I applaud these people for getting up in front of America - because I know I can't do what they are doing! But come on! Entertain us!!!!

For those of you reading this blog you may think of me as some sort of a self-serving Techie-Boy that would rather talk about our new television set over the great occurence of actually being able to see some of the first movements of our unborn child. I want to make sure it is VERY clear to all of you that there is not a SINGLE THING on this earth that even comes close to matching in comparison to my family. THINGS are cool but they are nothing without a family. For more information on the recent occurences here with the baby and all of her (Yeah, you heard me right I'm pretty sure it's a girl) recent movements check out Denise's latest blog entry (right below this one).

Ok, now to the new occurences and purchases with respect to technology in our house. I guess I should back up a little bit and set the record straight about this before I go on. Since we moved in our house we have made due with a lot things people gave us so we didn't have to spend a lot of money we didn't have right after getting married and moving in to the house. Well, over the course of the last year and a half or so God has really been so good to us and put us in a financial position where we could afford to get some upgrades around the house. About a year or so ago we were able to go out and buy a new King Size bed which we has led to a more restful sleep (most nights).

That said, we have been fortunate to have a 36 inch ProScan (pretty much a high-level RCA) tube type TV in our house since we've moved in. My aunt and uncle who moved to Florida around the time we moved in to our house really didn't want to pack the beast so he let us have it (BIG THANKS!). Well since we've had it has begun to age further and recently has decided it is going to go into fits of a HIGH PITCHED SQUEALING noise after it warms up. Denise found the magic button and is able to silence the squeal with a firm smack on the side of the set. (Note: I'm glad she hasn't used the method on me yet ... hehe).

I'm really drawing this out here aren't I? OK, fast forward to Sunday night ... I was at my in-laws house and I told my father-in-law that if the Colts won Sunday night that it was destiny that I needed to buy a new TV and we were going to have a Superbowl Party. Well, for any of you that weren't in a cave for the last 48-72 hours know the Colts pulled off THE BIGGEST comeback in NFL history (either AFC or NFC) and defeated the New England Patriots (38-34) after being down 21-3 in the first half.

Well, last night my Dad and I tromped over to Best Buy in Avon and did some haggling. I worked with a guy Ron who was very good to answer all of my questions ... believe me ... there were lots. At the end of the day I left with a Sony Grand VEGA 55 inch LCD HDTV. It is only 720p but will downscale 1080i to 720p and looks EXQUISITE! We hooked up the cable and all of the different components last night and man, it is beautiful.

So, if you're in the neighborhood of Avon come Superbowl Sunday looks us up and come enjoy the BIG GAME on our new BIG TV! I don't know that Marti likes it all that much as there is a box about 50 times bigger than him in the middle of the living room.

For those of you that are a bit more visual, here are a couple photos:

A couple of exciting things are happening around the Thornberry house. This past week I have been feeling the baby move! At the time of my last checkup I wasn't sure if what I was feeling was actually the baby. But over the last few days I can really tell that's some baby movement!! It's not enough where Chris is able to feel it yet - but that time will come soon enough!

Some exciting news for Nolan - he's signing up for baseball tonight! Last year his team (The Reds) did absolutely AWESOME. They worked SO hard and really went a long way. They ended up placing 2nd in the Baseball Tournament - on the HOTTEST day of the year. (Even though I wasn't playing ball - I almost passed out from the heat!) We are really excited about this season. He actually has to try out this year! We know he will do great. (Just do your best, Nol!)

AND FINALLY...are all of you ready for another season of American Idol? We are American Idol Fools...it kicks off tonight at 8:00 PM so get your "American Idol Snacks" ready!
